Operations Manager

UCB1 Global Protection Services, is looking for the right candidate to join our growing team as our Operations Manager.

In this important role the right candidate brings a combination of leadership and proven business success to a company that is leading the way in the area of protective services throughout the National Capital Region.

Role Responsibility Key Objectives:

  • Assist the business leadership in ensuring profitable operation and expansion of the business potfolio
  • Maintaining a portfolio of clients for the company.
  • Ensures adherence and compliance with all UCB1-GPS policies and procedures


Within The Limits Of UCB1-GPS Policies, Procedures And The Approved Budget, The Operations Supervisor Has The Authority To

  • Perform all functions relative to the Protective Services Division operational areas
  • Monitor activities within the office related to the Protective Services Division
  • Handle special projects as assigned by the business.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Reporting Line: Reports to the President & CEO
Direct Reports: In this role the Operations Manager will provide over site and direction for the following areas and individuals:

  • Operational Staff: Scheduler, Area Supervisors
  • Support Staff: Client Services Manager, Office Administrator, Recruitment Coordinator, Field Support Staff

Responsibilities Include

  • Managing a client portfolio including renewals
  • Sales development and support
  • Ensuring that established training standards are maintained; delivering orientation modules and related testing when necessary
  • Assisting with recruitment, interview preparation, selection and deployment of guards and field staff
  • Operations equipment/vehicle purchase and maintenance
  • Preparation and maintenance of Post Orders
  • Patrol/alarm business performance
  • Assists with scheduling and logistics during peak coverage times
  • Reviews financial results and implementing fixes where required
  • Coordinates logistics for all short-term and emergency coverage
  • Preserves all records and documents as required and promotes the continued growth of all UCB1-GPS assets
  • Ensures the efficient day-to-day operation of the PSD through effective delegation, monitoring and intervention
  • Recommends revisions to plans, policies, procedures, budgets and systems for approval by the President or their assigned designate, where such revisions would streamline operations in order to maximize profits and control costs
  • Makes recommendations as to the hiring, promotion, or reassignment of personnel to the benefit of the Company, in any area, including other service lines
  • Conducts all Performance Development Reviews for direct reports in a timely and equitable manner
  • Ensures that all client and staff complaints, problems and requests are speedily and effectively resolved
  • Ensures that all District reports of whatever nature are completed and distributed within specified time frames
  • Represents and promotes UCB1-GPS interests both internally and externally

  • College Diploma required as a minimum
  • Minimum three years work-related experience in a middle-management role, preferably in the Security Industry
  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively with employee groups and builds partnerships at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to implement performance management with direct reports
  • Ability to conduct progressive interviews and assign staff duties accordingly
  • Basic understanding and comprehension of financial concepts and terminology
  • Ability to prepare basic sales proposals as required
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate
  • Facilitation/presentation skills
  • Proficient use of office software programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Understanding of rotational shifts and site schedules
  • Basic understanding of pay/invoicing software
  • Willingness to attend to serious operations incidents after hours
  • Knowledge of relevant security and employment legislation
  • Client service/consulting skills
  • Strong communication skills

Position Conditions

  • Traveling will be required to perform work at various client sites
